Vortex Props

I'm the assistant director of a competitive indoor percussion ensemble called Vortex Percussion. This year we decided to have a 6' tall, 24' long ramp on the floor for our 2022 production "Cult of Personality".

Design

Each member is 1.5" square steel tubing, 3/16", wall thickness.

All 4 sections move independently on their own with swivel casters I got from McMaster Carr. Each ramp is decked with plywood and supported with angle iron.

Construction

Some photos of the props coming together, and an assembly time lapse of the largest ramp.

Final Result

They're sturdy, roll like a dream, and even go through doorways!
